Shantytown: A Night of Homelessness

This year 70+ people attended or stopped by Shantytown, including two dozen students who chose to experience a night of homelessness by sleeping on the front lawn of Coffman. The event, located on the front plaza of Coffman Memorial Union, started Thursday September 24th at 9:00 pm and wrapped up Friday morning at 6:00 am.

The night started with a presentation by Kenza from Saint Stephen's about the homelessness; including stereotypes, reasons why people become homeless, and how we can advocate. Attendees built cardboard “shanties” on the front plaza.
